I have been grilling on a Weber Traveler and have fallen in love with the grill.Ĭheck out my article on Weber Traveler vs Weber Q for a more detailed head to head comparison.QuliMetal 6558 Griddle for Weber Q100 Q1000 Series The Traveler has about 20% more grilling area than the Q2200 and, if you include the cost of a cart, is actually less expensive.

However, with the introduction of the Weber Traveler portable gas grill that has changed. Until 2021 the Weber Q2200 was the grill that I recommended to people who wanted something bigger than a Q1000 or Q1200. I advise getting the sturdy stationary cart (Part # 6525) instead of the flimsy portable version (Part # 6557).

Using a 20 pound propane cylinder means you are much less likely to run out of gas in the middle of a cook and wont be throwing all of those little one pound propane tanks into a landfill.Īnother nice upgrade for these grills is the Weber cart. The 12,000 btu/hr burner on these grills will burn through a one pound tank in less than two hours. These grills are designed to operate from a disposable one pound propane cylinder. If you buy either of these grills then I strongly suggest buying the adapter hose for use with a 20 pound propane tank. Upgrades for the Weber Q2000 and Weber Q2200 The biggest complaint about the Q2000 is that it does not have a lid thermometer. The second is that the Q2200 has more than 5X as many reviews as the Q2000 reflecting its increased popularity. The first is that the Q2200 gets a higher percentage of 5 Star reviews than the Q2000 (78% vs 70%).Two things are obvious from this data set. Here is a look at the raw data (current May, 2022). The data is plotted side by side for the two grills below. The reviews on Weber’s site for these two grills are mixed with folks loving the Q2200 and being frustrated with the Q2000. If you run out of gas in the middle of a cook, or if the regulator gets plugged, you will see the temperature drop and know to check things out. The thermometer on the Q2200 isn’t very accurate but it will let you know if something is wrong with your grill. Of the differences that one that really matters is the thermometer. The Q2200 has a thermometer mounted in the dome lid.The Q2200 has an electronic ignition compared to a push button spark ignition on the Q2000.The dome on the Q2200 is a little over an inch taller than on the Q2000.There are a few differences between these grills but only one that is significant. The Q2000 used to be called the Q200 while the Q2200 used to be called the Q220. The names of these grills have changed over time. The Q2000 grills are only available in the Titanium color and for use with liquid propane. In terms of size the Weber Q2000 series offers 48% more grilling area than the Q1000 series and 40% less than the Q3200. Side Tables: Two side tables that fold inward for storage.Fuel: Disposable 1 pound propane bottles (not included).Warranty: 5 years for cook box, lid, burner tube and grates.Grill Body: Rust resistant cast aluminum.Cooking Grate: Two piece grate made of heavy porcelain enameled cast iron.Burner: Single stainless steel burner rated for 12,000 BTU/hr that traverses the outside edge of the grill grate. The Q 2000 and Q 2200 are identical in terms of grate size, heating capacity and quality of construction.
Let’s take a look at these two grills to understand what the have in common, what is different and whether you should buy a Weber Traveler instead. There are a few upgrades on the Weber Q2200 that make it the better grill and the price difference is not substantial. If you are trying to choose between the Q2000 and Q2200 then I strongly suggest buying the Q2200. The Q2200 and Q2000 are designed for folks that want a table top gas grill but want something a little larger than the highly portable Q1000 and Q1200. The Weber Q 2000 series grills are the mid sized grills in the Weber Q product line.
